The field of application is the detection and treatment of high risk patients who present disorders in their lipidic metabolism.
The clinical utility of this test is the detection, the treatment and the monitoring of lipidic disorders in relation with the risks of developing coronary diseases:
- to determine the atherogenic risk of the patient
- to avoid counterproductive medication
- targeted therapy
- therapy control: especially important as sometimes the intake of a cholesterol-lowering medication leads certainly to a decrease in total cholesterol levels but the levels of atherogenic LDL increase. A usual LDL check would however indicate that the treatment was successful.
